Sacred Heart's Schola Cantorum and Conductor Donald Kendrick will celebrate the Year of the Organ with internationally renowned Organist Dr. Roger Nyquist at Sacred Heart Church, 39th at J Street, on Sunday, October 19th at 3 PM. The program will feature this 34 voice choir in works by Mendelssohn, Jakob Handl and Stanford.

Dr. Nyquist, who performed the dedicatory recital on Sacred Heart's new organ in 2006, returns with a fresh and innovative program of organ pieces that will demonstrate the variety of tone colors and quality of sounds from this extraordinary instrument in the rich acoustic of Sacred Heart Church. His recital will include Bach's Fantasy in G Minor, Leo Sowerby's Passacaglia (G Minor Symphony) and the well known Toccata (5th Symphony) by Charles Marie Widor.

Schola Cantorum has recorded six CDs and has appeared in concert throughout the West Coast and in England, Spain and Canada. Schola was recently selected to perform in the Vatican for the Pope during their 2007 concert tour to Italy. Suggested donation at the door is $15 General and $10 Students/Seniors.
